Temporary Psychologist License
Temporary license for a qualifying armed-forces member or spouse under RSA 310:16; the ordinary credential title identifies the profession and level.
Licensing authority: office of professional licensure and certification · Application information
Temporary military or military spouse issuance
- Application
- Submit a complete temporary application, any required criminal-history authorization, and a notarized affidavit affirming identity, accuracy, knowledge of the requirements and good standing.
- Board Exam Demand
- Psyc 306.01(a) states "Each applicant for initial licensure or reinstatement of licensure shall be examined on the contents of RSA 329-B psychologists practice act and Psyc 100 through Psyc 500." The mandatory temporary statutory entitlement is retained without an examination leaf; the lower-ranked Board examination demand and the obligation to complete ordinary licensing requirements during the temporary period remain applicant conditions.
- Conflicting Implementation
- RSA 310:16(I) mandates temporary issuance to qualifying military members or spouses based on the stated existing-license criteria. Plc 306.01(b)(2) limits its procedure to a profession not covered by Plc 313, while Plc 313.02 lists Psychologist. That narrower procedure does not undo the statutory entitlement and is disclosed as an implementation condition.
- Duration
- Temporary license is valid for not less than 180 days while completing New Hampshire licensing requirements; a one-time 180-day extension may be requested within 15 days before expiration.
- Existing License
- Hold a current valid unencumbered corresponding occupational or professional license in good standing from a US state or territory; remain in good standing in every jurisdiction where a license is or was held.
- Military Status
- Be a member of the armed forces or the spouse of a member and provide proof of service and marriage, as applicable.

Profession specific application by an applicant licensed in another state
All of the following:

- Essay Discrepancy
- Psyc 303.03(a)(2) still says "The supporting documentation described in Psyc 303.02 (c) including the answers to written essay questions described in Psyc 303.05". The present Psyc 303.05 governs the EPPP and contains no essay assessment, and the Board FAQ states "Due to recent changes in the law applicants are no longer required to submit essays as part of their application." The old January 2022 instructions remain an inconsistent implementation demand, not a separately established current state assessment.

All of the following:
- Application
- Submit the Universal Application and profession-specific addendum, required supporting documentation and fees to OPLC.
- Character
- Good professional character is required; disciplinary, criminal, malpractice and impairment disclosures are evaluated under Psyc 303.01.
- Criminal History
- Provide fingerprints and criminal-history authorization under RSA 329-B:14-a; OPLC reviews the results before making the licensing decision.
- Documentation Difference
- Psyc 303.03(b) and its Board checklist simplify documentary proof; Psyc 303.05(a) still states that all applicants take the EPPP, so the existing passing examination remains a leaf. Any Board waiver or acceptance of the credential in place of retesting is an applicant condition.
- Education
- Doctoral degree primarily psychological from a regionally accredited institution or a substantially equivalent program; non-APA/CPA programs must document Psyc 302.01–302.02 curriculum and residence requirements.
- Effective Date Discrepancy
- The codified rule source note states "Source. #14569, eff 6-30-26, EXPIRES: 6-30-36". The Board laws page states "Psyc 306 - Jurisprudence Examination - Effective September 30, 2026". - Psyc 306.01 requires initial and reinstatement applicants to pass the open-book jurisprudence examination with at least 80 percent; repeated attempts are permitted.
- Qualifying Credential
- Hold a current ASPPB CPQ, ABPP certification, or active National Register of Health Service in Psychology credential; submit evidence, current CV and verification of each current license under Psyc 303.03(b).
- Waivers
- A substantive-rule waiver may be requested under Psyc 210.01; the Board must find good cause and consistency with governing statutes. The possibility of a waiver does not remove a named currently offered examination.
Reactivation of unexpired inactive license
- Continuing Education
- Document 40 CE hours within the two years before applying, or show that the inactive period is too short for the CE obligation to have accrued.
- Fee
- Pay the applicable reactivation fee. This route is reactivation of an inactive license, distinguished from reinstatement after expiration.
- Request
- Submit the Board reactivation form and inactive-period practice, disciplinary, criminal, malpractice and impairment disclosures.
Official no-examination sources
Effective from 2016-11-04.

The codified regulation controls for September 22, 2026; the website date is disclosed as a lower-ranked conflicting implementation statement.
- Expiration
- Apply after expiration and before lapse; RSA 310:8 and Plc 312.02 set lapse at one year. Psyc 404.01(a) and 404.02(e) still limit reinstatement to six months, so applications at 6–12 months face that stricter profession-specific implementation condition.
- Jurisprudence
- Psyc 306.01 requires initial and reinstatement applicants to pass the open-book jurisprudence examination with at least 80 percent; repeated attempts are permitted.
Timely renewal
- Character
- Remain of good professional character and submit complete and accurate renewal disclosures.
- Collaboration
- Forty hours of live, interactive collaboration during the license period under Psyc 403; retain documentation.
- Continuing Education
- Forty approved hours per license term; at least 30 Category A hours and at least six live, interactive Category A ethics hours; no more than ten Category B hours under Psyc 402.02.
- Timing

- Psyc 306.01 requires initial and reinstatement applicants to pass the open-book jurisprudence examination with at least 80 percent; repeated attempts are permitted.
- Order Compliance
- Within 30 days after the suspension term ends and within one year of expiration, satisfy all suspension-order conditions, monetary penalties and any imposed investigation costs.
Restoration after suspension of an unexpired license
- Board Conditions
- The license may be restored fully or with limitations after notice and opportunity to be heard. Any unnamed remedial examination in an individual order is an applicant condition.
- Order Compliance
- Demonstrate compliance with every suspension-order and correction-plan condition, required competence activity and monetary penalty. No additional restoration or application fee is charged.
- Timing
- Request restoration within 30 days after the suspension term ends and before license expiration.
New initial application after revocation
All of the following:

- Education
- Doctoral degree primarily psychological from a regionally accredited institution or a substantially equivalent program; non-APA/CPA programs must document Psyc 302.01–302.02 curriculum and residence requirements.
- Effective Date Discrepancy
- The codified rule source note states "Source. #14569, eff 6-30-26, EXPIRES: 6-30-36". The Board laws page states "Psyc 306 - Jurisprudence Examination - Effective September 30, 2026". The codified regulation controls for September 22, 2026; the website date is disclosed as a lower-ranked conflicting implementation statement.

- Experience
- At least two years of supervised clinical experience: a predoctoral internship and postdoctoral experience, each at least 1,500 hours over 12–24 consecutive months, satisfying Psyc 302.03–302.05.
- Jurisprudence
- Psyc 306.01 requires initial and reinstatement applicants to pass the open-book jurisprudence examination with at least 80 percent; repeated attempts are permitted.

- Waivers
- A substantive-rule waiver may be requested under Psyc 210.01; the Board must find good cause and consistency with governing statutes. The possibility of a waiver does not remove a named currently offered examination.
Licensure by statutory endorsement / reciprocity
- Existing License
- An active, unrestricted, non-temporary psychology license in good standing from a jurisdiction with substantially similar current requirements; primary source verification, fees and the required criminal-history check are necessary under RSA 310:17 and Plc 313.01–313.06.
- Foreign Credentials
- Foreign credentials require a NACES or AICE evaluation under Plc 313.12, unless an applicable exception applies.
- Lower Ranked Exam Demand
- RSA 310:17 states "Notwithstanding any other state law to the contrary, the office shall issue licenses to professionals who present evidence of an active license in good standing from another jurisdiction" and specifies the substantially-similar and criminal-history conditions. Lower-ranked Psyc 306.01(a) states "Each applicant for initial licensure or reinstatement of licensure shall be examined on the contents of RSA 329-B psychologists practice act and Psyc 100 through Psyc 500." The Board rule’s examination demand is disclosed as an applicant condition under the contract’s source-ranking rule.
- Qualifying Jurisdiction
- Under Plc 313.51 the other licensing jurisdiction requires a doctoral psychology degree, a state-approved examination, and at least 2,500 supervised hours or two full-time supervised years. That other jurisdiction’s examination is an applicant qualification condition, not an examination of this New Hampshire route.
- Waiver

- Qualifying Date
